Emma's final step of the journey started at about 10:15 Sunday evening when we were just about to go to bed. Ruth came into the bedroom after getting a glass of water and said, I felt a little rush of water....I either just pissed my pants, or my water just broke! A few minutes later, it was a little more obvious because she felt another gush. She called the hospital and they told us to head in and have everything checked out. Luckily we finished the baby room and packed the "hospital bag" earlier that day...it must have been a sign.
When we got to the hospital we got checked into the baby having area "obstetrics" for all of you like me! One little swab of the wooden Q-tip confirmed that Ruth definitely did not piss her pants...baby Stobb was on her way!
We basically slept there until the next morning when they decided to move things along with some drugs to make the contractions a little stronger and more often. The baby did not really want to cooperate, and long story short....Doc. Schuwarger decided a C-section was our only route. Basically, Emma's head was lodged against Ruth's sacrum and natural birth would only hurt her and Ruth. The final decision was made around 3:30 on Monday, and an hour later Emma was crying in my arms.
Both Ruth and Emma made it though the surgery with absolutely no problems. Everybody is happy and healthy.
Not only is that the big news, we also bought our own place about 3 weeks ago. So we had a nice warm inviting place to bring our new family into. Life is good!!
